Fall 2017 reading period and upcoming events

DoubleCross Press is pleased to announce that we will be reading poetry chapbook manuscripts for all of October, 2017. Manuscripts should be anywhere between 8-26 pages in length. There are no restrictions on style or content though it may be useful for you to be familiar with work we have published in the past. We do not charge a fee for submissions but ask that you buy a chapbook from us or from another small press that you admire as a way of supporting the work small press publishers do. Please pass this message on to anyone who you think might be interested.

All submissions should be sent to doublecrosspress@gmail.com with OPEN as the e-mail subject and must contain a one paragraph description of the work. We are, as always, interested in reading work from under-represented communities: writers of color, queer and trans writers, women writers, older emerging writers, and writers who make their homes outside of major literary centers. If you would like to send a short bio along with your submission, we would love to learn more about you though it is by no means necessary.

Other exciting news:

  • In or near Philly? Join us 9/14-9/16 at Philalalia. We'll be selling books all 3 days, and editor MC Hyland will be speaking on the "Poetry, Publishing, Politics, and the Art of the Book" panel (9/14, 2:30pm) and leading a brief bookbinding workshop (9/15, 2:30pm)
  • We'll be back in New York on 9/17 for The Brooklyn Book Festival, sharing a table with editors from several of our favorite small NY presses (The Operating System; Argos; No, Dear; Tender Buttons; Projective Industries; Augury; EOAGH; and Resolving Host) as the Small Press Union
  • Finally, all SIX of the brilliant books in our Prose-ish series are, as of this June, out in the world. We love these books! We think you will too! Jennifer Firestone's Swimming Pool is sold out online, but we'll have a small number of copies at our fall bookfair events; you can buy any other book in the series from our website.

XX,

Anna, MC & Jeff
